This study is looking at how other health problems affect people who already have severe asthma. Many people with asthma also live with other conditions, such as anxiety, diabetes,or heart problems. When someone has two or more ongoing health issues,it's called "multimorbidity." These extra health problems can make asthma harder to treat and life more difficult overall.
The aim of the study is to find out how common these other health conditions are in people with severe asthma, how they affect people's lives, and what kind of extra support or care they may need.
To do this, researchers will invite adults with severe asthma (via severe asthma clinics) from across Europe to complete a short online survey (about 15 minutes). As well as the European clinics,4 NHS clinics will be involved (1 in Scotland,3 in England). The survey is anonymous and asks about their health history, asthma symptoms, treatments, and any other conditions they may have. It has been developed with input from people living with asthma.
By understanding the full picture of health for people with severe asthma, the researchers hope to improve care and encourage more joined-up (or holistic) support for those who need it.
