This information is provided directly by researchers, and we recognise that it isn't always easy to understand. We are working with researchers to improve the accessibility of this information. In some summaries, you may come across links to external websites. These websites will have more information to help you better understand the study.

Many people in the world have problems with their bones and muscles, which we call musculoskeletal disorders. These problems can hurt a lot and make it tough to move around and enjoy life. Sometimes, they even stop people from going to work or doing their jobs properly. People in some places don't have the right care they need for these problems, which we call deprivation. It's like not having all the things you need to be healthy.

In this research, we're trying to understand why some people can't get the right care for their bone and muscle problems. We'll talk to patients and healthcare professionals to learn about their experiences. We'll also talk to people who have these problems but haven't gone for help to understand why they haven't.

To do this, we'll ask people in Enfield and Stoke-on-Trent about their experiences with healthcare. We'll also talk to people who live where it's hard to get care by going to community locations to speak with them. For both of these groups, we will speak to them in recorded interviews. In another part, we'll bring together people from these places, in focused ‘community of practice’ discussion groups to help us find ways to make healthcare better.

We'll record all our conversations so we can listen carefully and learn from them. By doing this research and talking to different people, we want to help make things better for people with bone and muscle problems. At the end, we'll use what we learned to make a plan to help people access the care they need. We'll work together with everyone involved to develop a plan for action. This plan will also help guide future research and make healthcare better for people who experience difficulties accessing musculoskeletal care.
