The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential benefits of 145 mg of daily fenofibrate in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus and pre-existing non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Start dates may differ between countries and research sites. The research team are responsible for keeping the information up-to-date.  

The recruitment start and end dates are as follows:

INTERVENTIONAL

Intervention Type : DRUG
Intervention Description : 145 mg tablet of fenofibrate administered once daily for 36 months.

Intervention Arm Group : Fenofibrate;

Intervention Type : DRUG
Intervention Description : Insert lactose tablet matching active tablet administered once daily for 36 months.

Intervention Arm Group : Placebo;
