The aim of this research is to both identify antigens presented by patients with endometriosis that are specific for disease and to determine the origins of disease. Determination of disease-specific antigens using patient sera samples can help to better understand endometriosis as well as potentially identifying targets for immunotherapy as there is currently no cure. We will be obtaining samples from women who are undergoing diagnostic laparoscopy or those who are already identified women suffering from the disease, tissue samples will be collected post-routine surgical treatment. Urine and blood will also be collected. Urine samples will be used to help determine potential markers for non-invasive diagnosis. We hope to find disease-specific signatures that can help understand the disease and help to better treat those with it.
