COVID-19 research studies

You can help

A wide range of research is being done into COVID-19, to help us to understand more about it and identify potential treatments. All of these studies have been prioritised by the Government and the NIHR is supporting their delivery across the country.

You can help whether or not you think you’ve had coronavirus.  For most COVID-19 studies, you will be approached by a healthcare professional if they think you are suitable to take part.

Here are two studies which you can take part in:

Mass Science App

This study is looking for data from members of the public, particularly those who wear a Fitbit.

You can enroll in the study and it is open to anyone with a wearable fitness device. The study aims to find out if wearable devices, such as Fitbits, can help determine how COVID-19 spreads and affects mental and physical health. Find out more on the study website.

Join Zoe

Zoe is the largest COVID-19 study. It uses an app called the Zoe COVID Symptom Tracker and most adults can take part in this study.  It requires you to enter a daily update on your health. Download the app here

NHS COVID-19 Vaccine Research Registry

By signing up to the NHS COVID-19 Vaccine Research Registry, you are letting researchers know that you are happy for them to contact you if they think you might be suitable to take part in their studies. The registry is open to all UK residents aged 18 and over.

We still need more research to look at how best to protect certain communities and the rest of the population moving forward.
